ID3 (mp3 Only)
123
Audio File Converter help you to organize
your mp3s. With 123 Audio File Converter
you can easily edit ID3 tags and keeping
your musical collection in good order.
Click "Edit ID3" button to edit
your mp3 id3 tags.
ID3
Tags: Information about the mp3 file
can be stored at the end of the file. Many
players display this information during
playback. The information you can add is:
Title, Year, Artist, Album, Comment and
Genre. ID3 has a limit of 30 characters
for each field.
File
Formats
MP3
MP3 is a compressed version of the WAV
format and consumes as little as 10% of
the hard drive space of an equivalent WAV
file - typically 1 MB for a minute of
music. The MP3 format compresses audio
files in such a way that the file size is
relatively small, but the song sounds
nearly perfect.
WAV
The WAV format is an uncompressed
copy of a CD audio track that preserves
CD-quality. Although this is the purest
form of audio, it also takes up a
significant amount of hard drive space (a
typical three-minute song consumes more
than 30MB of hard disk space)
WAV ADPCM
Compressed WAV format. ADPCM (Adaptive
Differential Pulse Code Modulation) is an
audio compression scheme which compresses
from 16-bit to 4-bit for a 4:1 compression
ratio.
Microsoft ADPCM is directly supported on
most Windows implementations as a native
format. Although the quality of IMA ADPCM
voice files is not great, the files are
portable. There is a real advantage in
having compact files that can be played on
most Windows PCs.
WMA
Windows Media Audio format. A special type
of advanced streaming format file for use
with audio content encoded with the
Windows Media Audio codec. The .wma
extension indicates a file format and how
the content is encoded.
OGG
Vorbis
Ogg Vorbis format. Ogg Vorbis is an audio
compression format. It is roughly
comparable to other formats used to store
and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF,
AAC, and other digital audio formats.
Ogg Vorbis is a fully open,
non-proprietary, patent-and-royalty-free,
general-purpose compressed audio format
for mid to high quality (8kHz-48.0kHz, 16+
bit, polyphonic) audio and music at fixed
and variable bitrates from 16 to 128
kbps/channel.
VOX
Dialogic ADPCM format. The Dialogic ADPCM
format is commonly found in telephony
applications, and has been optimized for
low sample rate voice. It will only save
mono 16-bit audio, and like other ADPCM
formats, it compresses to 4-bits/sample
(for a 4:1 ratio). This format has no
header, so any file format with the
extension .VOX will be assumed to be in
this format.
GSM
Compressed WAV format. Good for keeping of
human speech. It is lossy speech
compression that allow to get telephone
quality speech with 13 kbit/s. It is a
standard used for telephone sound
compression in European countries and its
gaining popularity because of its quality.
GSM 06.10 stands for Global System for
Mobile Communications and is a variant of
LPC called RPE-LPC (Regular Pulse Excited
- Linear Predictive Coder) and is a
European standard originally for use in
encoding speech for satellite distribution
to mobile phones. It can be found in use
in various telephony products such as
voice mail applications.
DSP
DSP Group's TrueSpeech is a family of high
quality, low bit rate, speech compression
algorithms which compress speech down to
as little as 1/40th its original size.
Several different versions of TrueSpeech
at different compression rates are
available for licensing, from 8.5 Kbps
through 3.9 Kbps. All offer excellent
communications over a 14.4 Kbps or better
modem.
TrueSpeech 8.5 is the 8.5 Kbps member of
DSP Group's TrueSpeech family of software
products. It is a low complexity speech
coder, which is an integral component of
Microsoft windows and has also been
endorsed by Dialogic for computer
telephony products. TrueSpeech 8.5 should
be used when compatibility with Microsoft
is a prerequisite.
CCUIT G721
Used for computer telephony. 32 kbit/s
adaptive differential pulse code
modulation (ADPCM). Good for keeping of
human speech.
CCUIT
G723
Used for computer telephony. Extensions of
Recommendation G.721 adaptive differential
pulse code modulation to 24 and 40 kbit/s
for digital circuit multiplication
equipment application. Good for keeping of
human speech.
CCUIT
G726
Used for computer telephony. 40, 32, 24,
16 kbit/s adaptive differential pulse code
modulation (ADPCM). Good for keeping of
human speech.
Setting
Format Parameters
MP3,
OGG Formats
Sample frequency and bitrateThe higher the
value of these parameters the better the
quality and the bigger the file. The most
popular setting for is 44,100Hz
128Kbit.Fixed Bit Rate (FBR) versus
Variable Bit Rate (VBR)VBR means the bit
rate changes during encoding to produce
higher quality sound and bigger file size.
MP3 Presets
The MP3 presets will automatically set
frequency, bit rate and quality to match
the preset name. Select the preset and
click Apply.
OGG Vorbis
This is becoming an increasingly popular
format and is said to produce better
quality sound than MP3. Encoding time is a
little slower. This format is free and
open source.
WMA Format
The Windows Media Format has 33 presets
giving a range of frequencies and bit
rates, stereo and mono.
WAV Format
The WAV format has a large range of
frequency and bit rates. You can match
this format to another WAV file. From WAV
format click Set?, select a wav file and
click Open. The frequency and bit rate
will be extracted from the file and used
in conversions.
Other Formats
Select a frequency for other formats and
the information for each format will
change to show the setting details for
each format. Some formats are not available
with certain frequencies and the
information for that format will be blank.
How to judge sound quality
As we get older we gradually lose the
ability to hear frequencies from both the
top and bottom frequency ranges, so
judging sound quality is really up to the
individual. Your playback system is also a
big factor, small computer speakers do not
require the same audio quality as a hi-fi
system.
